By Emma

I am very much ready for warm Spring days and time at the beach. Pretty please??!! With the Easter holidays starting this weekend, I am hoping for lots of time outdoors and plenty of adventure with the wild ones.

Here are some top ideas for adventures with your wild little ones this Easter (in Devon):

Easter Egg Trail Babbacombe Model Village

We love a trip to the Babbacombe Model Village; charming and nostalgic it has something for all ages. This Easter there is an Easter Egg Trail running from 1st – 16th April, crazy golf, a new mythical kingdom and a new ‘Bug Trail’, perfect for the little ones.

We love a day out here, followed by an ice cream overlooking the sea from The Cliff Railway Cafe/Take away. Such. Good. Ice cream.

Dinosaur Wild Live at Plymouth Theatre Royal

Very exciting news for all dinosaur fans this Easter! Direct from London’s West End, Dinosaur World Livethe interactive children’s theatre show that brings dinosaurs to life on stage, is at Theatre Royal Plymouth 9th – 11th April 2023.

Easter Egg Hunt at the Big Sheep

There is always so much to do at the Big Sheep – both our children love it and it is always a full day out, so definitely worth the effort getting there. This Easter you can feed the new lambs, cheer on the sheep races, watch live shows, enjoy thrilling rides, meet the Easter Bunny, and take part in an awesome Easter Egg challenge.

Easter Trails at National Trust properties

A number of local National Trust Properties are offering Easter Trails. We love them and find them a good option at least once over the holidays. If you are a member, it makes for a cheap day out, and if the weather is good it is perfect for some fresh air and running wild. You can combine with a picnic, meet with friends and family and it works well for all ages. The trails are always really family friendly and end with a chocolate prize. Everyone is a winner 🙂

This Easter you can find Easter Trails at:

New Foot Golf!

A new foot golf course is opening in the heart of Devon this Easter, just outside of Cullompton and very close to the Bear Trail. A 9 hole course perfect for some family fun, you can pay to play 9 or 18 holes, and there will be opportunities for birthday parties and team building. There is set to be a picnic area, and drinks and snacks on sale. More info on ‘Footgolf Devon’ can be found here.

The Bear Trail/Bear Town

The awesome Bear Trail, between Broadclyst and Cullompton, is reopening for the season on 1st April. This is such a fun day out and great for the whole family. It is all about the mud; but don’t worry as there are also showers, toilets, changing areas and a snack area too, so everything is covered! Tickets are just £9.95.

There is also a special Colour Bomb event at the end of April, worth checking out.

The indoor Bear Town play area for younger children is also brilliant; our 5 year old loves it. They have some brilliant themed events including an Easter special involving some hidden eggs!

Darts Farm

We love a trip to Darts Farm; perfect for a half day outing, and a great place to meet family and friends. It also works well combined with a trip to Topsham or to the beach, as it is in such a good location, not far from the M5.

This Easter, they have a trail which makes its way around the farm and wetlands. Starting 1st April, £3.50 per trail.

Greendale Farm Shop

Greendale Farm Shop has a really lovely range of Spring events on, including a free Easter trail around the farm. There are also special workshops available during the holidays ranging from bunny ear making, to pottery and a ‘beevive’ workshop. This is such a lovely place to meet family and friends for food, and the outdoor space is lovely for children to explore.

Cockington Court

Cockington, Torquay, has a special place in my heart as we spent so much of our childhood there. It is a lovely place for a walk and there is so much space for children to run wild and free. Cockington Court is lovely for food and drink, and a wander. This Easter they have a trail for the family to enjoy; alien eggs have landed in the grounds, and the trail takes you around the court’s buildings and studios to discover the creations. £2 per tail sheet. Chocolate treat upon completion.

Happy Easter adventuring! x
